‘They're Putting 600 Illegal Migrants in Our Town’: Interviews from Crowborough Army Training Camp
A thousand residents took to the streets today to protest plans to house hundreds of migrants in a Sussex town's former army barracks. Around 540 male asylum seekers are set to move into the cadet camp as early as this month as part of a government plan to reduce the number of hotels it uses to house them. The plans come after home secretary Shabana Mahmood vowed to move asylum seekers from hotels into army barracks. Under the plans, up to 540 asylum seekers could be moved to the camp, on a three month rotation. They’d be limited to single males aged 18-65 and wouldn’t be detained in the camp, which has sparked concerns of undocumented migrants going into the town centre. All together, it’s expected to be more expensive than housing them in hotels, but some say the conditions of the camp could act as a deterrent to stop those making channel crossings. The Home Office say the plan is only temporary, and expect to have alternative accommodation up and running within a year. But for that period, youth cadets that use the centre have already been moved out. Crowborough Shield is a local group fighting legal battles with the Home Office, and has already raised around £90,000 in funding. The Home Office were set a deadline of Monday to provide more information on their plans to use the site. Some have criticised officials for leaving the decision until the last moment — limiting the time that local pressure group Crowborough Shield have to appeal. Around 1,000 people were estimated to have attended today’s protest, and it’s clear there is growing frustration over what residents see as a lack of transparency from the government — as well as uncertainty about how their community could be affected. The message here in Crowborough reflects a much wider national debate about immigration, accommodation for asylum seekers, and whether local voices are being heard in the process. --- 🎙️ As with all my videos, my aim is to remain impartial and let you, the viewer, make up your own mind on the issue. ‘I Saw a Human Being Who Deserved Love’: Nigerian Catechist on the Man who Tried to Kill Him
Christian persecution in Nigeria is in the spotlight, after US President Donald Trump warned that the United States may take military action against Nigeria unless its government stops the killing of Christians by extremist groups. It’s estimated that around 3,000 Christians have been killed between January and August in 2025 in Nigeria, although these numbers are contested. The US president threatened to go into that “now disgraced country guns-a-blazing” and “immediately stop all aid and assistance” if the government “continues to allow the killing of Christians” by “Islamic terrorists”. He added that any US response would be “fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians”. Trump’s intervention follows weeks of pressure from conservative Christian groups urging him to classify Nigeria as a “country of particular concern”. Some analysts emphasise that the causes of persecution are often more complicated than just being religiously motivated, arguing that many incidents are linked to ethnic tensions, competition over land and water, and to other local disputes. While abductions of priests and pastors have increased, some suggest that profit is the primary motivator, rather than religion, since such individuals are high-value victims whose communities can quickly pay ransom. Nigeria’s leadership has swiftly contested Trump’s comments, with the country's president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting Nigeria “is a democracy with constitutional guarantees of religious liberty”. Although Nigeria is officially secular, it is closely split between Muslims (53 per cent) and Christians (45 per cent). In his statements, Trump has not made mention of any violence against Muslims who have also been targeted by extremist religious groups, including Boko Haram. The story of Nigerian catechist Tobias Yahaya and his near-fatal stabbing and return to ministry, which is captured in the video interview above, illustrates the human toll of such internicine communal violence. He highlighted his religion as the reason he was attacked, saying: “I can say [the man’s] attack on me is solely because of my faith, because he testified in the court … It is because he saw me as an influence … to [his] children and religion.” Asked if this reflected the broader issue of violence in the country, Tobias said: “The argument of whether it is religious or whatever it is, is not going to help matters.” On 19 November, Tobias received the “Courage to be a Christian Award” from Aid to the Church in Need at Southwark Cathedral, London. The day also marked the charity’s annual “Red Wednesday” initiative that illuminates buildings in red lights to raise international awareness of the persecution and discrimination of Christians around the world. -- This report was originally produced for the Catholic Herald, but was taken down from their YouTube channel as part of their 2025/26 rebrand. 🌍 My website - www.undertheledge.com 📧 Email Me - info@Undertheledge.com

On the Ground at an Anti-Trump Rally in Manchester
Last night, US President Donald Trump flew into London Stansted for his second state visit to the UK. Today, he arrived at Windsor Castle for a day of pomp and pageantry. He will watch a military procession, witness a Red Arrows flypast, and attend a state banquet. The trip has widely been seen as an act of diplomacy by Sir Keir Starmer, but it has not been without controversy, with costs expected to exceed at least £10 million. Four people have been arrested after images of Trump and the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were projected onto Windsor Castle, and many are turning out across the country to protest against the visit. In this video, I'm on the ground at St Peter’s Square in Manchester to speak to some of these protesters. -- Please contact to purchase footage. 🌍 My website - www.undertheledge.com 📧 Email Me - info@Undertheledge.com

15 People in Hospital after Bus Crash at Victoria Station, London
17 people, including pedestrians, passengers, and a driver have been injured, with 15 in hospital, after a bus mounted the side of the pavement opposite Victoria Station, in London today. There were no life-threatening injuries reported after the collision which happened at around 8.20am. Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was moving at high speed when it crashed into a barrier. Maintenance workers who were behind the barriers told of how the bus driver crawled out the front covered in blood, and how they were trying to help everyone out of the bus. They explained if the barrier wasn’t there, they probably wouldn’t have escaped injury, and that it was a miracle no one was killed. This isn’t the first time a bus has crashed in the vicinity of Victoria. Last January, Catherine Finnegan, 56, died after she was hit by a double-decker bus next to the station, and Melissa Burr, 32, died in August 2021 after a bus driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator pedal rather than the brake. There have been no arrests, but police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them. — Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 1605/4Sept. --- 🌍 My website - www.undertheledge.com 📧 Email Me - info@Undertheledge.com
