ABOUT ME

I'm an 18 year old journalist passionate about learning and developing the techniques required in news broadcasting. I'm currently studying broadcast journalism at the University of Salford, based at Media City. I work as a journalist for Shock Radio & TV, Utter Radio, Salford Now, and the Catholic Herald. I was selected and sponsored as the youngest of 30 trainee journalists working towards an NCTJ Level 3 Certificate in Foundation Journalism. I was also one of four granted a scholarship for The Art of Documentary. I'm the former editor of school magazine ‘The Eye’, and have proficient knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud.

Testimonials

Richard Sprenger, THe Guardian

"I'm not sure what I was doing at 16 but it looks like you already have a drive and commitment that will serve you well in the industry."

greg milam, Sky News

"You have a very impressive portfolio and clearly a real dedication to the art of storytelling."

Jimmy Burns, Former Financial Times

"Great to work with you @elliotharteyuk you've started young, full of energy, curiosity, and creativity. You will go far.”

"The presenter looks and sounds like a schoolboy aged no more than 16. But the story is presented well enough, albeit his immature voice and looks are a tad annoying."

Luc Forsyth, Cinematographer & Director

“First off I’m going to shout of Elliot Hartley for having the most energetic and personalized application. He really went all out and make a dedicated video just telling me why he’d be a good fit for the program, and it’s exactly this kind of hustling and attention to networking that’s going to get him really far in this world. I always say networking is huge in this game, and Elliot is doing it right."

"Student filmmaker Elliot Hartley was inspired by the festival to create his own documentary style video. Elliot filmed, presented, interviewed and edited his own piece capturing the spirit of the weekend. We were so impressed by his talents and attitude that we have reached out to our contacts to find industry contacts and work experience for him as he continues his passion in documentary film making."

"Elliot was the youngest in his cohort, but his dedication, punctuality, and intellectual curiosity set him apart. He consistently showed up, embraced new challenges, and demonstrated a strong willingness to learn. His ability to adapt, engage, and push himself beyond his comfort zone is what makes him truly stand out. I have no doubt that Elliot is on the path to great success, and I look forward to seeing everything he accomplishes in the future!"

Caroline Hull, National Director of Aid to the Church in Need

"So grateful to have Elliot Hartley on side as we launch our new Religious Freedom in the World report as well as our very first global advocacy campaign! Lovely to see this great coverage in the The Catholic Herald as well!"

Marc Sansom, Director at SALUS Global Knowledge Exchange

"Brilliant video report Elliot Hartley capturing the essence and impact of last week's Healthy City Design 2025 Congress at the Lowry in Media City, Salford."
